Comments: Excellent, excellent, excellent contractor who is humble, patient and very honest. He is very detailed, meticulous and explained what needed to be done. My project took a week because of the rain and if not, it would have been done sooner. Showed up everyday very early in the morning and worked hard with his workers. Communicated well when he needed something and paused to seek clarifications where he was unsure when it came to how I wanted the deck to look like. Very happy with the work done as my deck came out gorgeous as I had envisioned. Although, he had to buy some additional materials, he promptly showed me all receipts of what he purchased and explained why. Which I very must appreciated. Afterwards, he pointed to me all the materials left and cleaned up nicely. This is the contractor for you folks. Not the pretenders out there who are ready to rip you off and be disingenuous. Highly, highly recommend.

Comments: Literally, the second I clicked the "connect me" button on HomeAdvisor after finding matching contractors, Tom of Kaufman Carpentry Services called within 5 minutes. He arrived the same day to inspect and reasonably quoted the work, which was to fix an unsafe wood balcony off the master bedroom. Over the years, the balcony's wood planks were starting to curl and the railings were not safely secure, and a couple of the joists had gotten weaker. He said it was faster and more cost effective to just replace the wood balcony than replace the different parts piecemeal and "sistering" (adding support pieces) the weaker joists. Very nice and professional, he and his crew arrived on time the next day (Saturday), removed the old wood balcony, installed the new one, and cleaned up. The new balcony is nicer and sturdier than the old one that was removed. Responsive, fast, professional, great work, I would recommend Tom to anyone.

Comments: I simply can't say enough about Tom and the crew he has working for him. They all are friendly, polite and considerate. I had noticed that the stair stringers on my 9 year old deck were badly rotted and thought this was a job I could do myself. With the help of a neighbor, we removed the first stringer, which revealed more rot in the structure boards of the deck itself. I was in way over my head. Another neighbor had recommended HomeAdvisor so my wife immediately logged on and entered our problem. Within 5 minutes, I was on the phone with Tom. He was able to look at the job within a few hours, gave us a price, and we hired him. Fortunately the timing was good as he was between jobs. He was at our house with his crew the following day, at the time he said he would be here and had the rotten boards removed from the deck before he left for the day. The next day, Saturday, Tom and the crew were once again here when he said they'd be here, and worked all day to finish the repairs. The job came out perfect! Tom and his crew are meticulous workers. Tom made some changes to the way the stringers were attached to the deck after discussing the changes with me. He also suggested other changes to reduce the likely-hood of the stringers rotting in the future. When they left, you you be hard pressed to ever know they were ever there. Everything was cleaned up, looking like it was before the project began. Amazing! It's hard for me to put into words how thoroughly satisfied we are with Kaufman Carpentry Services. Based on my experience, I highly recommend them.

Comments: Tom and his crew did a phenomenal job rebuilding a deck around our pool, which was in danger of collapsing and bringing the pool down with it. My main concern was safety, especially for my small grandchildren, and protecting the integrity of the pool itself. KCS was knowledgable about and exceeded all safety regulations, giving me peace of mind. They showed up every day on time, left the site clean and tidy, worked quickly and efficiently, and finished the project within the promised time frame. Comments: I had my front porch re-decked with tongue and groove, and a corner of the porch screened in. KCS added a (screen) wall with a door and built up studs to mount the screen to leaving the original railing and posts in place so to maintain the original look of the porch from the outside. Workmanship was top notch. Even my neighbors, around during the day, commented on the attention to detail and quality of the over all end job. KCS started when they said, finished quicker than I expected and left site clean and straightened at the end of each day. I also received numourous phone calls before and during the process with updates and progress.

Comments: Tom and his crew were excellent. We've now found our carpenter/handyman and wouldn't consider using anyone else. The quality of their work was definitely a 5.0. The initial request was to have Tom build two wood doors in install them. Based on his professionalism and value we added more jobs on to his list (installed two new storm doors, replaced a rotted sill with one he built, installed a Place N Go flooring system in our finished basement, etc.). We will work with Tom and his crew again in the near future with other jobs we want to complete (replace rotted planks on our deck, patch and paint a ceiling, install a ceiling fan, etc.).
